BE PROACTIVE'S ANNUAL SUMMIT GROWS GREATNESS!
Special thanks to everyone who supported our Growing Greatness Summit, a day of learning, networking and fun aimed at equipping the community to GROW GREATNESS and BE PROACTIVE in all areas of life.
During our Summit, more than 400 participants enjoyed INSPIRING SPEAKERS, GREAT FOOD (courtesy of Thompson Brothers BBQ and Nicky's Seafood) and INFORMATIVE WORKSHOPS. Everyone also left the Summit with SWAG BAGS (courtesy of ProActive Management Consulting, Capitol Records and B.E.S.T. Academy) and NEW CONVERSE KICKS!
The response to our Summit was positively amazing. The main feedback we received for improving next year's Summit was MORE, MORE, MORE!
SUPERSTAR TYRESE GIBSON HELPS KICK OFF NEW SCHOOL YEAR!
In August 2011, Be Proactive welcomed singer, actor and author Tyrese Gibson to B.E.S.T Academy for a special student assembly! The assembly began with the school choir’s performance of one of Tyrese’s hit songs. The crowd was surprised and elated when Tyrese actually took the stage to help the choir perform! During his visit, Tyrese shared insights from his new book, highlighting the importance of getting and education, choosing friends wisely and making good choices in life. The students, staff and parents were definitely excited to participate in this special assembly. One mother even stated that she is one of Tyrese’s biggest fans and has raised her children to his music!
In August 2011, Be Proactive youth recorded “Get Ya Dreamin’ On,” the FIRST SINGLE and SOON-TO-BE ANTHEM for the Foundation. “Get Ya Dreamin’ On” is a positive and catchy song about reaching your dreams and being successful in life. The song was produced by Mr. Wes during our summer program!
Special thanks to Peniece LeGall with SESAC Music Publishing for organizing our music workshops and Mr. Wes for helping the students record their first song!
BE PROACTIVE GOES GREEN!
On Saturday, August 27th, Be Proactive held its first Going Green Fair, an event that celebrated students from our summer arts program, highlighted ways to be healthy and protect the environment and prepared the students for the new school year!
